WTF AudioVox?
August 17th, 2008 by Bill
So I got AudioVox’s ExpressR back in April for my birthday, as I am in the car for about 2.5 hours a day. I chose it over the ExpressRC even though that one was newer and fancier (color screen) as the ExpressR has 30 presets, versus something like 10 for the RC.
Anyhow, this thing has been a complete pain in the ass! About 2.5 months after I got it, suddenly I could no longer get any audio output. I tried everything, but nothing would resolve it. So I called AudioVox’s tech support, and spoke to one of their techs. He agreed I needed a replacement, and promised that a shipping label would be emailed over to me. I waited about a week, it never came. I called again, and got the same response - sorry, we’ll resend it, etc. STILL - nothing. Finally after another week or so I called again, and this time I got it.
End of story, right? No - wrong. They sent me a new unit about 2 to 3 weeks after I’d sent the old one in. So everything’s great, right?
Wrong. I haven’t even reprogrammed this POS and again the audio output has died! Now I don’t know if it’s the unit itself that’s crapping out the audio, the car dock, or the home dock, but all three of them are made by AudioVox. Whatever component is screwing up doesn’t matter - it’s all on AudioVox. What the hell??!?!
There, I feel better.
